39 Squares: I’m Done!

Yay! My dandelion about did me in, but after three days and lots of french knots I’m done! The last square is one more scrap of my MeeMaw’s fabric:

39 Squares - Last Two Squares

And here it is in all it’s glory!

39 Squares - DONE!

And I’ve started a small project. I think I will be done with this one by the end of the week. See, I just LOVE this fabric – purchased as a remnant sometime last year from Joann:

I decided it would be a fun project to turn this into a sampler, and use the fabric as a guide for my stitches. Here, we have couched trellis, split stitch, back stitch and stem stitch:

WIP: Augmented Fabric

Here, we have circular rhodes stitch and blanket stitch:

And coral stitch and “pinwheel” blanket stitch:

Yay, you finished the squares! They look cool, especially the dandelion.

I have 2 yards of that fabric if you want some more.

  3. I love the sampler; with your embroidery it looks like a modern take on crewelwork/jacobean embroidery. I did something similar with a piece of orange fabric with an Indian-style mandala.

Thanks for all the compliments! I had so much fun with this sampler. Amy at inspireco has already started another stitchalong (“Blessings”), but I’m worn out and need a more leisurely project! Lots of fun though.

I can’t wait to get this framed and on the wall!

Bethie: Yes, I do still plan to do them for all the seasons, though they might not all be inchies for summer. I’m going to take a break and work on the sampler I’m doing now – much more leisurely and relaxing – and then I’ll delve into my summer sampler. You know I will be posting progress!
