I’m not going to win the pie contest at the local county fair.

I’ve never made a pie. I mean a real pie, with a crust. The most complex pie I have made to date involved peanut butter, cool whip, and a Oreo cookie crust.

So when Monkey asked that I make a pie (something he has asked quite often) I decided to MAKE a pie. I will own that I did not make the crust from scratch, but it might as well have been. I used the Jiffy “Just Add Water” crust that costs oh, about $0.50 at Walmart, and threw in a can of blueberry and a can of strawberry pie filling.

Next time, I will either try to REALLY make the crust, or (more likely) I will buy the dough in the tube, because I SUCK at rolling out pie dough. See?

I made a pie.

I made a pie.

(Picture quality a little dubious due to trying out webcam on new laptop.)

Note how the crust is kinda fluted on one side, yet berries are exploding out on the other side? A thing of beauty there, my friends, a thing of beauty.

Oh well, as long as it tastes good with a little frozen yogurt on top, I am a happy girl.

  1. Hi there. Came over to see you thru Flickr. I’m “Windows to the soul” over there. I have tried so many times to make crust I have officially given up. One daughter is a chef and I managed to mess up even under her dender care! LOL … Hubby’s family are top notch bakers and the only thing I make better than them is corn bread. I hadn’t thought of taking photos of my cooking but your’s has given me a whole new idea. Thanks. It’s (another) a dreary day here in White House, TN. So I’m just putering around. Come visit my blog.
